Turbosmart Modular StraightGate50 Product Overview

Based on Turbosmart’s award-winning electronic StraightGate50 technology, the Modular StraightGate50 range features 50 mm butterfly-style wastegates designed to integrate with selected OEM electronic wastegate control motors.

The Modular Series opens up a new level of boost control for engines originally equipped with electronic wastegate actuation. It retains the original equipment actuator while introducing a high-flow external wastegate.

The Modular StraightGate50 uses a zero-offset butterfly valve that delivers exceptional exhaust flow, near-linear operation and precise boost control across the entire operating range. Like the factory system, it requires no reference hoses, springs or diaphragms. Instead, it combines the vehicle’s existing electronic control system with Turbosmart’s high-flow 50 mm StraightGate50 butterfly valve.

Electronic actuation provides the widest possible tuning range, from zero boost—where manifold priority permits—to the engine’s maximum available boost. Because the Modular StraightGate50 retains the factory-installed electronic control motor, wastegate operation can continue to be managed through the vehicle’s existing electronic systems. ECU reprogramming is required.

Advanced Valve Design

The Turbosmart StraightGate50 was engineered from the ground up and validated in-house to deliver a level of control and flow not previously available from a wastegate.

Its zero-offset butterfly valve is exposed equally to exhaust drive pressure on both sides. Because the valve pivots centrally, it remains naturally balanced against drive pressure.

This self-balancing design reduces the force required for actuation, even under extremely high exhaust drive pressures. The result is a wider tuning window and consistent wastegate control, regardless of the actuation method.

Flow efficiency is further improved by the straight-through valve design. Unlike a traditional poppet-style wastegate, which forces exhaust gas to change direction by approximately 90 degrees, the StraightGate50 provides a direct and less restrictive flow path.
